Billie Mae Shafer Winstead Huxtable, 79, passed away peacefully at home in Dillon, Montana, with family by her side on 1 November, 2017. Billie was born to Henry and Mary Elizabeth (Betty) Shafer in Dillon, Montana on 20 April, 1938. She spent her early years in Argenta, Montana with her sister, Nancy Shafer Knapp, who preceded her in death. Billie married Charles E. Winstead in June 1952 and they had five children, Edward Winstead, Diana (Michael) Miller, Lois (Steve) Damon, Cathy (Jack) Shinkle, and Denise (Larry) Cluff. Charles preceded her in death in April 1969. Billie married Chester W. Huxtable in February 1970 and they had one son, William (Penny) Huxtable, and step-children, Joan Pilgrim, Warren Huxtable, Larry Huxtable (preceded her in death) and Rita Roder. Chester preceded her in death in December 2014. She is also survived by four nephews. Billie spent her life as a homemaker. She was a wonderful cook, and on occasion, especially Christmas, others were treated to her amazing goodies. Billie enjoyed fishing, helping Chet with his construction business, cooking, spending time with family, and in later years, reading, gardening and her grandchildren. She has 16 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. Private graveside services have been conducted with interment at Mountain View Cemetery.
