Iris Hubbard passed away Feb. 5th 2016 at Parkview Acres surrounded by family. Iris was born on Aril 26th 1926 to James David Stewart and Clara Bernice Flaherty Stewart in St. Louis Missouri. Soon after the family moved to Darby Mt where brothers Robert and William were born. Iris's mother passed away when she was 6 years old and she and her two brothers went to live with 5 other cousins who were all raised by her grandmother. Iris went to school in the Bitteroot Valley and at the age of 16 married Aage Nygard. They were divorced after 18 years of marriage and Iris and her three children moved to Dillon Mt where she met and married William Franklin Hubbard. He had four daughters and one son. Together they had two daughters giving them a grand total of ten children. They had a very happy life together. She was a devoted mother and wife and spared no effort to take care of her family. Iris loved her yard and flowers spending countless hours there the instant the snow was gone. She also loved to cook and crochet. She and Bill were active in the Elks Club and other community organizations. Both were avid bowlers and spent many years on the city bowling league. She and Bill loved to go camping in the summer taking along with them the family and pets. William passed away in 2006 followed by her daughter Margie in 2007. She is survived by her brother Robert (Bitteroot Bob) Stewart of Dillon Mt. and her children. Lynne (Walt) Zukauckas of Libby Mt., Kathleen (Keith) Blomquist of Rock Springs Wyo., Diana Remillard of Dillon, Mt., Douglas Hubbard of Butte Mt., Ellen (Dave) Cuchine of Butte Mt., Lola (Howey) Matteson of Butte Mt., Joann Julian of Butte Mt., Wilma (Gary) Marchesseau of Dillon Mt., Sheryl Woods of Dillon Mt., and numerous grand children and great grand children. Graveside services will be held Feb. 12th, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Mountain View Cemetery followed by a casual gathering and light luncheon at the home of Sheryl Woods at 62 Parkwood Drive in Dillon. Donations and memorials may be made to the charity of choice.
