Charles “Chuck “ Bennetts passed away Wednesday, January 13, 2016 surrounded by family. Chuck had just celebrated his 102nd birthday at the Front Range Assisted living in Fairfield, Mt. A memorial service will be held at the Brundage Funeral Home in Dillon on Sunday at 11:00 a.m. January 17th. Chuck was born in Virginia City on December 15th, 1913 and moved to the family homestead in the Madison Valley when he was 3 years old. The family consisted of 11 children. Charles was born the 7th son of the seventh son and had three younger sisters. All preceded Chuck in death. Chuck worked as ranch hand and cowboy in the Valley as a youth until the fall of 1937 when he joined the Montana Power to begin what became a wonderful 41 year career working throughout the state of Montana. Chuck kept an alphabetic list of 109 towns in Montana that he worked in while constructing power lines to the state. His career included long terms stays in both Whitehall and Dillon at the end of his service. This career was interrupted by a short stint in the Army during WWII. Chuck married the love of his life, Hannah Gallagher January 4, 1941. Hannah preceded Charles in death in April of 1994. He was also preceded by his Granddaughter Brittney Bennetts in 2014. They had 3 children Charlie, Jim, and Rita Kay Bennetts Anderson. Chuck was the proud grandfather to 6 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Uncle Chuck was also the favorite uncle to numerous nieces and nephew and a tremendous number of long term friends throughout Montana and touched the lives of all he met!
