Connie Plutt

July 11, 1940 — July 10, 2021

Constance Mary Finnegan Plutt passed away peacefully with family by her bedside in the early morning hours of July 10, 2021, one day before her 81st birthday. Connie was born to Harold and Elizabeth Foley Finnegan on July 11, 1940 in Butte, Montana. Connie was the first of three children born into the Finnegan family, later joined by brother Pat and sister Judy. Connie married John Plutt Jr., of Dillon, in 1959, and the couple enjoyed 56 years of marriage before John passed away in 2015. Together they raised six children, and are the grandparents of 13 and great-grandparents of 13. In her youth, Connie was an avid member of the Girl Scouts of America and earned the Gold Award, the group’s highest honor, and traveled to Chicago for a national gathering of the group. She fondly remembers working summers at Yellowstone National Park. After graduating from Butte High School, Connie attended Western Montana College (now UMW) in Dillon. She first met her future husband while visiting in Dillon with friends when she was in high school. That relationship would blossom while she attended college in Dillon, and the couple would soon marry. Connie became involved with numerous organizations in Dillon including the Dillon Jaycees. She volunteered for many years at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Dillon, and retired from the University of Montana Western where she worked with dining services. Connie was proud of her Butte roots and Irish heritage and enjoyed playing bridge with her group until the time of her passing. Connie’s primary focus throughout her adult life was on family and through her efforts the clan remains close, with her home the hub of activity as family members of all ages stopped by throughout the day, every day. Larger more formal gatherings were common on holidays, birthdays and celebrations of all types. With a heart pulsing with compassion and a pure soul, Connie was the moral compass of the extended Plutt family. Connie is survived by her six children: son John Patrick Plutt, of Dillon, and his children, Chance and Jordan and their families; daughter Kathy (Mark) Simkins, of Dillon, and their son Nathan Simkins; son Jim Plutt, of Dillon, and his daughters, Mindie, Court- ney and Toni and their families; son Ernie Plutt, of Billings, and his children, Ian and Ana Plutt; daughter Kelly Osborne, of Dillon, and her children, Marcus Osborne and Ashley Osborne and her family; and daughter Kristy (Dave) Anderson of Gooding, Idaho and their children Dani Anderson and Jessi (Jeff) Bard and her family; her sister Judy (Kevin) Getz of Butte and their children Bridget, Sheila and Gerald and their families; her brother’s children Patrick Finnegan and Melinda St. Pierre and her family; and sister-in-law Dorothy Zemljak of Butte and her children Mike, Paul, Michelle and Marilyn and their families. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, brother Pat Finnegan of Butte, grandson MJ Simkins of Dillon, and brother-in-law Martin Plutt of Dillon. A Rosary will be held Monday, July 19 at Brundage Funeral Home in Dillon starting at 6:30 p.m. followed by a visitation at 7 p.m. Funeral mass will be Tuesday, July 20, at 12:10 p.m. at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Dillon with burial following at Mountain View Cemetery. A reception will follow at the St. Rose Family Center. Memorials are preferred to the MJ Simkins Memorial Scholarship Fund, Montana Western Foundation, 710 S Atlantic, Dillon, MT 59725. Condolences can be sent to Plutt Family, P.O. Box 1102, Dillon, MT 59725.
