Sharon Stocks Stoll

1934-2023

Sharon Stoll, 89, passed away May 26, 2023 following a brief illness. Dixie Sharon Stocks was born on April 12, 1934 in Rigby, Idaho to Wallace “Wad” Stocks and Melba (Prophet) Stocks in the spare bedroom of her grandparents farm house. She had two siblings, Doyle and Brett Stocks.

The family would later move to Washington for a brief period and on to St Ignatius, Montana for a short time where she had some of her best childhood memories. When Sharon was eleven they moved to the Big Hole Valley near the town of Jackson. She would attend Jackson Elementary and one year at Beaverhead County High School.

Sharon loved to dance and one year she and seven other young people from the Big Hole Valley won the State Championship square dance competition. They danced on the exhibition stage at the Columbia Gardens in Butte, MT.

Her first “official” job was at the Jackson Mercantile working for Roy and Ginger Jackson. She was there for six years and then would marry Gene Hall. They would settle at Monida, Montana and owned the Sportsman’s Bar. From this union they welcomed their son, Wayne. Later they would divorce and she would marry Ray Stoll and have two more children, daughter Leslie and son, Shawn.

She would assist Ray with many aspects of ranch life in the upper Horse Prairie and Big Hole Valley, as well as logging, fencing, home building and raising her family. She was very proud of her ability to run the log jammer.

She was an excellent cook throughout her life and would later work at several ranches/resorts in Wyoming and Alaska. She dabbled in real estate for awhile and enjoyed buying homes, fixing them up, living in them for awhile and then moving on to the next one.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Wad and Melba Stocks, brothers, Doyle and Brett Stocks, husband, Gene Hall, husband, Ray Stoll, and son, Shawn.

She is survived by her son, Wayne (Kay) Hall (Hot Springs, AR), daughter, Leslie (Scott) Lula (Jackson, MT), grandchildren, Ethan (Ally) Lula (Trego, MT), Elora (Scott) Peters (South Heart, ND), Christopher (Aimee) Hall (San Antonio, TX) and great grandchildren, Weston and Branch Peters, and Evie and Noel Hall.

Her wishes are cremation and no services. Memorials may be made to the donors favorite organization or charity.

She is loved and will be missed by family and friends.
