Obituary Donald Nelson Smith Donald Nelson Smith 1943 – 2016 Donald Nelson Smith was born on April 19, 1943 in Dillon, Montana. He was the second of two children of Dora Nelson and Emery Keller Smith. He graduated from Beaverhead County High School in 1961. Don married Ruth Eilene Clemow on June 29, 1963 and they made their home in Dillon. The couple had three children, Darrell, Tracy and Dawnell. Don died on April 22, 2016 following a brief illness. Don worked at Beaverhead County High School for over 30 years and retired in 1999. He was active in community and a member of and a former officer of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, Lodge 1554 in Dillon. Don loved spending time with friends, playing cards, hunting, fishing, sports of every kind and fantasy football. Don was preceded in death by his parents, Dora and Emery Smith; his brother Emery C.E. Smith, his wife Ruth Eilene Clemow, and daughter Tracy Rose Smith Lincoln. He is survived by a son, Darrell Smith and his wife Cindy of Dillon, a daughter, Dawnell, and her husband Whit of Louisiana; three grandsons, Brent Smith, Donald Smith, and Thomas Stodghill and three granddaughters, Tracy Ruth Stodghill, Jessica Lincoln Boule and wife, Anjie, Ashley Lincoln and wife, Chantel of Seattle and one great-grandson, Damion Moore, great-granddaughter, Oriyan, and numerous nieces and nephews. The Burial Service will be held graveside at Mountain View Cemetery with the Reverend Sue Eades officiating at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 27. The family requests that donations be made to the St. James’ Episcopal Church, Elks Lodge 1554, The Beaverhead County Food Bank, or the Beaverhead Senior Center, all of Dillon.
