Donna Engelkes

Donna Mae Engelkes, 79 of Monida, Montana passed away at her home surrounded by her family. She was born at home, on December 27, 1939 in Turtle Lake, North Dakota to Albert and Wanda (Otto) Brevig. Donna was a very artistic person who loved to paint. She donated a lot of her artwork for local causes and benefits. In her younger years she worked as a cook at the nursing home. She bartended at the Club Bar and Peat Bar and worked in the Gibson’s Store. She graduated from high school in Sawyer, North Dakota and went on to take many courses at the UND Art School. She enjoyed collecting and had a collection of spoons from all over the country. She also loved beading and has a plethora of necklaces and jewelry that she has created over the years. One of her favorite things to collect would be her stuffed bunnies. She even buys candy for them. Going along with her creative side she also played the bass guitar. She enjoyed going south with her husband Gene for the winter and they called Quartzite, Arizona home while they were in Arizona. She loved her family and adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Donna will be sorely missed by her family. She is preceded in death by her parents and brothers; Ronnie, Robert, and Thomas Brevig. She is survived by her husband; Gene, children; Terry Brevig of Karlsruhe, North Dakota, J Steven Streeper of Minot, North Dakota, Elizabeth “Lisa” Caplis of Karlsruhe, North Dakota, step-daughter; Gina Mueller of Love Park, Illinois, siblings; Gary (Lois) Brevig of Minot, North Dakota, Bonnie (George) Miller of Dillon, Montana, and Dwayne (Jessica) Brevig of Dillon, Montana, grandchildren; LaTeri (Darren) Ponsiano, Gregory Schoenwald and Lachele (Matt Walters) Klink and 3 great-grandchildren; Bradley, Bailey, and Charlee Klink. Private family graveside services will be held at Mountain View Cemetery in Dillon. A guestbook is available online at www.brundagefuneralhome.com.
