Doreen Lillian Mayn

March 26, 1959 — September 13, 2024

Lima

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother and dear friend, Doreen, on September 13 th , 2024, at the age of 65.

Doreen Lillian Larson Mayn was born on March 26 th , 1959, to Roy and Eleanore Larson in Des Plains, Illinois. Doreen was the third eldest of 6 children, Sherrie, Kathy, Sandy, Nadine, and Sven. Doreen's favorite place to visit was her family's cherry orchard in Door County, Wisconsin, where she and her siblings would wake to their grandpa yelling "daylight in the swamp". She spent her summers helping to pick cherries but more often than not, would end up in a sticky cherry fight with her siblings Kathy and Sherrie. They earned their money to buy their school clothes and indulge at Sturgeon Bay and the county fairs. The family moved to Steamboat Springs, Colorado in 1972 to the family's newly built ski lodge. Many days were spent on the famous ski hills. As a teen, Doreen loved dancing and any chance to get out and have fun. She loved working at Harwigs where she developed her style of country western.

Doreen met her first husband, Joe Pierce, in 1975 and married February 12 th , 1977. They soon welcomed their three children, Jeremy, Sadie, and Colt to their family. She was the best mom. She was always involved in her kids' schooling and sporting events. Any day taking her kids and their cousins to the pool, lake, river, or camping was a good day. She and her sister-in-law, Toni, were partners in crime, always finding new ways to entertain the kids and gather the families for a party.

Doreen later married her forever love, Jack Mayn, on November 3 rd , 2005, in an intimate wedding in Las Vegas where she and Jack shared their vows to each other, and Jack loving sang "Making Memories of Us" by Keith Urban to her. The two joined together, combining 10 children, 25 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. She famously became known as Grandma Dodo. Dodo had an infinite amount of love for her grandkids and made every effort to be a part of all their lives from attending their concerts, sporting events, birthdays, weddings, and graduations. Dodo loved to make meals for her family and was always prepping meals for their visits. She could always be counted on for her manicotti and chicken enchiladas. You never left her home hungry. She loved the water from boating, floating or a swimming pool but her favorite was the warm tropical beaches where she and Sadie spent several long hours enjoying each other's company.

Doreen and Jack looked forward to spending their winters in El Centro, California where they grew their family even larger with their Rio Bend community. The quick trips to Mexico and nights surrounded by friends playing games and a beer or two, made their winters even more enjoyable. What they looked forward to most was golfing their days in the warm weather. Doreen was a part of many golf leagues and proudly boasted that she was a better golfer than Jack and Jack would agree.

Doreen will be remembered as a fighter. Anyone that was fortunate enough to know her, knew she was the toughest woman on this earth. She fought more battles than any one person should ever have to fight. She battled with grace, grit, and determination. She never wanted any of us to worry over her.

She is now resting peacefully with the Lord.

Doreen is proceeded in death by her father, Roy Larson, mother, Eleanore Larson, and her sister, SherrieKeller.

Doreen is survived by her husband, Jack Mayn; son Jeremy Pierce (Liz) of Harlowton, MT; daughter Sadie Moe (Nels) of Fairfield, MT; son Colt Pierce of Helena, MT; son Cole Mayn (Karin) of Corvallis, MT; daughter Amanda Hanson (Troy) Pollock, SD; daughter Amy Porter of White Sulphur Springs; daughter Jennie Ower (Jeff) of White Sulphur Springs; daughter Tracy De Jesus (Angel) of Oklahoma City, OK; son Philip Wipf of Bozeman, MT; daughter Lindy Ruscitti (Christian) of Happy Valley, OR; sister Kathy Sierra (Ricardo); sister Nadine Sisto; brother Sven Larson (Patti); numerous nieces and nephews, 25 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
