Elizabeth Hupp

Elizabeth (Betty Lou) King Hupp Betty Lou was born March 15, 1929 in Riverton, Wyoming to Earl and Irene King. They moved to Cut Bank, Montana in 1930, where Earl worked in the oil fields and Irene taught school. Betty met her future husband Bill Hupp, in 1st grade. They graduated from Cut Bank High School class of 1947. Betty received a scholarship for Valedictorian and attended Montana State College (MSU) where she was very active in the Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority, earning a Bachelor in Arts in Interior Design. Bill earned a Bachelor Degree in Business at MSC before joining the US Air Force. Bill and Betty were married August 2,1952. Betty and Bill moved to Boulder, Colorado after his discharge from the USAF. Bill earned a Master's degree in Geology at UC. The family moved to Calgary, Alberta and spent 8 years there. In 1966, the family moved to Billings, Montana where Betty was active in the arts. She was a member of Billings Arts Association, Montana Institute of the Arts, and Thread Benders. Her creative spirit flowed into unforgettable Halloween costumes, fabulous meals, Christmas cookies, remodeling and interior design with homes accented by their art collection. Betty was best known for her batiks on silk and she also produced paintings, weavings and ceramics. Betty inspired her children to see the world more keenly through her artist's eye. In 1986, Betty and Bill moved back to Boulder, Colorado where she was a member of the Fort Nightly group. Betty and Bill loved to travel. They traveled to many countries and even rafted the Grand Canyon. After Bill's retirement they moved back to Montana and spent many summers at her beloved Whitefish Lake cabin, hosting family and friends. Betty passed away from natural causes at home in Dillon, Montana with her loving husband by her side. Betty was preceded in death by her parents and Bills parents, Gregg Whitney and many dear friends and family members. Betty is survived by her husband of 62 years, her children Megan (Eliott) Kuubits, Andrea (Michael) Meyer, Tracy (Lenny) Hupp-West, Nancy (Brian) Schweitzer, Robert (Kathey) Hupp, Michael (Patty) Hupp, 10 grand children, brother Bill (Roberta) King of Seattle, sister-in-law Betty Jo Whitney of Sacramento, beloved nieces and nephews and dear friends. A service for family and friends will be held in Dillon at 4 PM on Wednesday, March 26th at Brundage Funeral Home. Her ashes will be interred at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Eagle Mount Aquatic Therapy Center in Bozeman.
