JANUS, Emilia E., passed away peacefully on March 10, 2014 surrounded by family and friends in Dillon, MT. Emilia is predeceased by mother, Zofia Ciaston and father Jozef Ciaston; daughter Malgorzata Janus; sister Aniela Fita; husband Boleslaw Janus; and sister Julia Szelag. Emilia is lovingly remembered and survived by son Boleslaw Janus and his fiance Gloria Payne; granddaughter, Solveig Sartor; and numerous nephews and nieces. Not even the witnessing of unspeakable horrors as a child in occupied Poland during World War II could dampen the bright and eternal light of love which burned within her heart. With a gentle smile, a kind word, and warm hug, "Pani Mila" cherished and loved every person and creature she encountered. Many a child left her presence with chocolate and candy in hand, many an adult was feted with her homemade ruskie pierogi, and many animals great and small basked in her tender care. Emilia forever missed her beloved Poland and its rivers, valleys, forests, folk ways, and old cobbled city streets. But she found a home in Buffalo, NY. The Broadway Market, Chestnut Ridge Park, and the Buffalo Sabres soon filled the void caused from leaving family, friends and memories in Poland. Her adventurous spirit would call Dillon, MT her final earthy home. Emilia loved friendly Montana faces, the mountains, and Saturday drives to Twin Bridges to shop for fresh produce at the Hutterite market. Emilia experienced many places, cultures, eras, and war and peace, but everywhere she went and everyone who was lucky to have known her was blessed by her love which was unconditional and total. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Dillon, MT on Friday, March 14th at 12:10pm. Burial will take place in early summer in St. Matthews Cemetary in Buffalo NY. Emilia requested that memorials be sent to the Humane Society Of Beaverhead County, 34 Lagoon Ln, Dillon, MT 59725.
