Ernest Harvey

April 22, 1935 — March 23, 2014

Ernie Harvey, 78, devoted husband, father and grandfather passed away at Barrett Memorial Hospital on March 23, 2014 of a head injury surrounded by his loving family and friends.  Ernie was born on April 22, 1935 in Swanton, Maryland. Ernie and his high school sweetheart, Ruby Gnegy, fell in love and decided to spend their lives together and they united in marriage on September 8, 1957 for 56 wonderful years.  In 1960 Ernie and Ruby decided to pursue their dream of going west to explore mountains of Montana.  They settled in Dillon. Ernie joined his brothers, Arthur and Calvin, together they built Harvey Brothers Construction and worked general construction until 1980.  Ernie and Ruby then went on to build their own business of investment properties.  Ernie and Ruby's life together included countless outings with family and friends. Ernie had many interests, talents and hobbies these included his love of the outdoors, camping, hunting, fishing, skiing, golf, travel, woodworking, old cars and so many more interests. Ernie and Ruby were blessed with two children Nancy and Jim.   We feel that the following represents how Ernie lived life, Corinthians 13:4-8. "Ernie was patient, Ernie was kind.  Ernie did not envy, Ernie did not boast, Ernie was not proud.  Ernie did not dishonor others, Ernie was not self-seeking, Ernie was not easily angered, Ernie kept no record of wrongs.  Ernie did not delight in evil but rejoiced with truth.  Ernie always protected, always trusted, always hoped, always persevered." Ernie would do anything for others, if someone needed help he was there for them. Because of his kindness and generosity, he received "The Distinguished Service Award" from the Dillon Jaycees in 2003. Ernie is survived by his wife, Ruby Harvey, 2 children, Nancy (Matthew) of Spokane, WA and Jim (Dawn), 3 grandchildren, Bradley, Joel and Jacob.  Ernie was preceded in death by his parents, brothers; Marshall, Calvin, Earl Jr., Fred and sister, Lucille.  Ernie is survived by his brothers; Robert, Guy, Doug, and Arthur, and sister, Fannie Mae Kolb. Please join us in this Celebration of Life, remembering this remarkable man.  Services will be held at the Brundage Funeral Home, Wednesday, March 26, at 11:00 and luncheon following at Lutheran Church.  Memorials may be made to the Grace United Methodist Church.
