Essie Lillian (Whatley) Later

March 20, 1926 — June 4, 2014

Essie Lillian Whatley Later died on Wednesday, June 4th surrounded by her family.  Essie was born on March 20th 1926 to Enoch L. and Hettie C. (Hughes) Whatley in Glenmora, LA.  She graduated from Beaver Creek High School in Oakdale, LA.  From there she went to San Antonio, TX and worked and met her soul mate Dick Later.  From there they moved to Dillon, MT and bought D & L jewelry which became Later's Jewelry.  Essie was an active member of Soroptomist and Lady Elk's.  She loved to play bridge and other cards and lived for Friday night bowling.  When the Later's retired they headed south to Yuma, AZ for some fun in the sun, and it's 5 o'clock somewhere! She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers; Louis and Charley, sisters; Bessie and Tessie numerous other relatives.  She is survived by her children Rick (Cooky) Later, Pam (Ron) Nielsen of Dillon, five grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren, brother-in-law, Jack (Leona) Later and sisters-in-law Elaine Later and Rose Whatley, numerous nieces and nephews.  A visitation will be held on June 8th from 5 to 8 PM at Brundage Funeral Home with funeral services on Monday, June 9th at Brundage followed by interment at Mountain View Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Beaverhead Ambulance.
