Gary (Lee) “Taco” Corkish, age 81 of Dillon, passed away peacefully on November 8th, 2021 after his health deteriorated due to dementia. Lee was born in Missoula to Robert and Ann Corkish. Growing up in Anaconda, he graduated from Anaconda High School and joined the army for 4 years. Forever the entrepreneur, Lee was always seeking new business opportunities. Lee’s endeavors included managing hotels, contracting, owning a bar in Butte, and his restaurateur career of owning and managing Taco John’s that earned him the lifelong nickname “Taco”. A Montanan at heart, Lee loved to hunt, fish, and do wood-work. He embraced the small-town life at his home in Dillon. Knowing the community and people like the back of his hand allowed him to stay independent for as long as he did as his dementia progressed. He is preceded in death by his parents; sister and brother in-law Carol and Bill Arbuckle, brother and sister in-law Robert and Sharon Corkish, and sister Nancy Goehri. Lee is survived by his brother-in-law, Don Goehri, his nieces and nephews, and many other people he considered “family” and friends. A celebration of life will be held November 13th at 3 pm at the Brundage Funeral Home in Dillon. He will be buried at a private ceremony at Mt. Moriah Cemetery in Butte alongside his parents.
