Longtime area resident Helen Brown passed away April 11, 2017 at Parkview/Kindred Care Center. Helen was born to Danish immigrants Nels and Maren Christensen in 1922. Helen attended local schools and graduated from Beaverhead County High School in 1941. After her marriage to Fred W. (Buster) Brown in 1946 Helen moved to the Brown Ranch on the Blacktail where she and Buster ranched for over 50 years. They purchased a house in Dillon 1959 and Helen went to work at the Bagely School Hot Lunch Program. She was there from its inception until 1970. After a fire at the ranch in the spring of 1970 Helen hung up her hot lunch apron and went back to ranching fulltime with Buster. In 1985 Helen fulfilled her lifelong dream to visit Denmark her parent’s native homeland and the numerous relatives residing there. A fall at the ranch resulting in a broken hip caused Helen to move from the ranch in 2008 and become a resident at Kindred/Parkview in Dillon. Helen was a lifelong member of the Danish Brotherhood, Friendly Home Demonstration Club and the Lutheran Church. Helen was preceded in death by her husband Fred W. (Buster), her parents, sister Ann Gray, brother Arthur Christensen. Helen is survived by her daughter Sharon (Clay) Cummins of Nampa, Idaho and Judy Brown of Dillon. Memorials may be made to Home Health, Search and Rescue, Dillon Volunteer Fire and Ambulance or donor’s choice. There is a visitation scheduled for Thursday April 13, 2017 at Brundage Funeral Home from 5:00 pm- 7:00 pm with funeral services Friday April 14, 2017 at 2:00 pm at Brundage Funeral Home.
