Howard Kay Gaines, age 65, of Dillon, passed away Wednesday May 25, 2016 of heart complications at Barrett Hospital. Howard was born in Painesville, Ohio on July 4, 1950 to Wayne Robert Gaines and Beulah Yvonne Anderson Gaines. Howard spent his younger years in Ohio and Pennsylvania with his 10 younger siblings. Howard moved to Dillon where he worked on numerous ranches, CO-OP Supply, drove school bus, and custodian at the high school. On April 19, 1975 Howard married Cecelia Kay Millhon and was happily married for 41 years. During this time, they had 4 children. Howard was very involved with the children’s activities that include Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, and baseball. After retirement, Howard was involved with Disability Rights Montana Advisory Council and he went to the Mental Health Day Program where he helped enrich the lives of people with mental illness. Survived by his wife Kay, children, Jeremy Gaines, Jason Gaines, Jay R Gaines, and Krista Malesich, and 11 grandchildren and 7 siblings. The Funeral Service will be held at Brundage Funeral Home, Saturday June 4th at 2:30 PM, for anyone who would like to attend followed by graveside services. Ed Flanders will be officiating the service. The family would like to thank caregivers and hospital staff at the Barrett Hospital and Health Clinic, Hospice, Dr. Weed and Dr. Murray.
