Janet L. Schuetz. After a gallant fight with cancer, Jan entered God’s Kingdom on August 18, 2017. She was born on January 22, 1948 in Erie, PA. Her husband Ken and sister MaryEllen Schmidt survive. A celebration of her life will be held in Dillon at Grace United Methodist Church on September 15, 2017 at 2:00 pm. Jan graduated from Edinboro State University in 1969. She earned 2 master’s degrees from the University of Colorado: Guidance and Counseling and Educational Computing; with a subsequent endorsement from Denver University in Educational Administration. Jan taught Social Studies before serving as counselor at Widefield High School, Colorado Springs. She retired as Head Counselor in 2005. Her career was devoted to her students and their success. Some of her community involvement included: founding member – Falcon Fire Department, Colorado College admissions advisor, instructor at C.J. Springs, School District Credit Union board member, Deacon and Elder at Faith Presbyterian Church, handbell director at 3 churches. Ken and Jan moved to Dillon in 2006 where she served as a SWMAC board member, member of Grace UMC, Director-New Hope Pregnancy Center, and an advocate at the Women’s Resource Center. While in Arizona, Jan served on the Board of the Residence Association, was involved with many clubs and activities, and served Willowbrook UMC. She continued to serve her 2 churches to the end. Jan loved music, camping, wildflowers, sewing and time with friends. Her favorite places were Yellowstone and Missouri Headwaters State Park.
