Jean was born to William and Mae Gleed of Lima, MT on February 6, 1926. She attended school in Lima until her senior year when she came to Dillon and graduated from B.C.H S. Living on the Red Rock River, where her dad taught her and her younger sister Bernie how tofish, hunt and shoot trap at the Renfro Ranch at Red Rock. After Jean graduated from high school, Jean went with one of her best friends Betty Mooney, to attend a woman's college in Missouri for two years.

In 1945 she married Dick Pierce where they lived at Horse Prairie and had two children Airlynn and Billy. Later they moved to Blackfoot, ID where Shane was born.

Jean loved animals especially dogs and horses. She bought a filly colt that was born in Horse Prairie by the name of Mattie's Folly, where she started racing. Some of her wins were: Colorado Wonderland Handycap-1960, Intermountain Quarter Horse Fatuity-1960, Pocatello Green Triangle Trophy-1964, Meringue Boy Memorial-1964 and numerous others. She was also involved in the winter Cutter Chariot Horse Teams.

In 1965, she and Dick divorced. Jean later married Bill Wray of Blackfoot ID, where they had Kelle and later divorced. In 1972, Jean married Donald Nelson from Miles City, MT and they raced horses together in Idaho, Washington, Colorado, California and Montana. Jean was a passionate entrepreneur. She was involved in several businesses from owning a Car Lot, a Bar and Café, candy store and fitness center. She loved all what she was involved in.

Jean was proceeded in death by her parents-1967, sister Bernie Gleed-1969, daughter Airlynn Pierce-1973, and son Shane Pierce-2019.

She is survived by her son Billy Pierce (Deb), daughter Kelle Gleed, grandchildren Matt Pierce (Alicia), Airlynn Taylor (Jake), Colter Pierce (Megan), Garrett Pierce (Kansas), Shannon Pierce and Caleb Pierce. In addition to 8 great grandchildren: Chris, Beckett, Lillian, Kambria, Pierce, Lincoln Oliver, Tomi Laine and little girl to be born July 2024. Also survived by cousins: Jim Carpita (Myrna), Dan Carpita, Nieces: Mirriam Rouse, Ramona Glaus (Dave), Nephews: Pierce Rouse (Donna), Clint Rouse (Mary), Todd Rouse, Tommy Pierce (Jennifer), Cole Pierce and sister-in-law Adele Rouse.

Services are to be held on July 8th, 2024 at St. Rose Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m., burial to be at Mountain View Cemetery, luncheon to follow
