Joye Ann Bourdeau Swenson was born December 1,1936 in Missoula Montana. She passed away peacefully at Pioneer Care and Rehab in Dillon, Mt. on January 14th, 2025. She was 88.
Joye was the only child of Lorraine (Page) and Bernard Bourdeau. Joye spent most of her younger years in Missoula, Montana living within blocks of her three 1st cousins, Harlene (Page) Fortune, Gail (Page) Roderick and Carolyn (Long) Demin, who were like sisters to her. They preceded her in death. Joye graduated from Missoula County High School in 1956.
She later moved to Helena, where she lived the remainder of her years. She married Larry Swenson. Joye cared for him with grace in his final days as he was ill from cancer. A true testament to the caring and loving person Joye was. She enjoyed being a homemaker. Joye loved her cats. She loved humor and had quite an imagination while telling stories of her past, especially about her cousins.
Joye treasured her longtime friend and caregiver, William Shipley, who made it possible for her to live in her home as long as possible. Thus granting her wish to be at home. His unwavering care and concern for her, is forever appreciated by her remaining family. Joye considered his son, Preston, her grandson. Joye dearly both of them.
She was preceded in death by her husband Larry, her loving son Marc Mollett and cousin Janice Roderick She is survived by her cousins, Diane Fortune Phelps, David Fortune, Susan Fortune and Jack Roderick, Jackie Roderick White and their families. Larry Swenson had 2 brothers and 3 sisters, Merrill (Shaula) Swenson and Arlen Swenson and Nina (Chris) Maxwell. Merrill and Shaula have both passed away Larry's mom and dad were Stanley and Thelma Swenson, deceased.
She will be buried next to her mother, Lorraine Bourdeau, and many family members at Sunset Memorial in Missoula, Montana. She will be missed.
