Kenneth Nettles

Kenneth James Nettles, PHD, 91 of Dillon, Montana passed away at Parkview Acres Care and Rehabilitation Center on March 11, 2014.  He was born in Charleston, South Carolina to Louis A. Nettles and Teresa (Johnson) Nettles on July 3, 1922.  He was married to Ruth Bethea Nettles and they had two children Kenneth Charles who is deceased and James Langley Nettles of Phoenix, Arizona.  Ken is a retired Chaplain Major from the United States Air Force in 1973 after 20 years of service to our country.  He asked that the following inscription be put on his headstone "a patriot who hates unnecessary war".  He and Ruth had traveled all over the world and chose Dillon, Montana as their favorite place to live.  He enjoyed fishing, bird watching and baseball.   He was a Christian who held a Doctorate of Theology from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky.  He wrote and published a book in 1957, "The Supernatural Origin of the Bible." Ken is preceded in death by his wife; Ruth and son; Kenneth, brother, Louis A. Nettles, Jr. of Tallulah, LA and sister, Teresa N. Shames of Rogersville, MO.  He is survived by son; James (Sandra) Nettles of Phoenix, Arizona, daughter-in-law; Patricia of Rantoul, Illinois, 5 grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and niece; Donna Ervin of Tallulah, Louisiana who is assisting with arrangements. Graveside services will be held on Thursday, March 20th at Mountain View Cemetery at 11 AM.
