Lyla and Albert helped put on several Cowboy Poetry Gatherings during her tenure at the Depot. Lyla made jean quilts to give to the Cowboy Poets, who came from across the country and Canada, to recite their poems. Lyla loved being a Grandma and couldn't wait to cuddle her babies, making quilts and afghans for each of her grandchildren. She enjoyed quilting and making photo albums as wedding and baby gifts.
