Mae Agnes McQuiston

Mae A. McQuiston, 76 passed away on February 10, 2025 at Bozeman Deaconess Hospital, surrounded by family.

Mae was born September 5, 1948 in Anaconda MT to Charles H. Budel and Helen M. Cunningham Budel Freeman. Mae was the eldest of sisters Judy, and Linda who were raised in Philipsburg, MT. Mae married Robert (Bob) Schneider, with whom they had, daughter Ellen, before later divorcing. Mae moved to Dillon, and in 1969 married Roy E McQuiston, together they raised Ellen, Roy (Jr) and Sally. Roy and Mae just celebrated 55 years of marriage. Mae's door was always open and made everyone feel at home.

All she met, spoke of her incredible kindness and gentle spirit. Affectionately called "Lala," she was the cornerstone of her family, embodying strength and resilience throughout her life while showering her family with love. She often said, "It's the little things in life that bring joy." We will continue to treasure those small moments when we see peonies, fields of wildflowers, the beauty of hummingbirds, cappuccinos, the joy of puzzles, sugar cookies, and countless other little joys in life. We feel an immense void in her absence. However, we find comfort that she is now resting in heaven.

She is preceded in death by her parents and sister Judy Southwick. Mae is survived by her sister Linda McQuiston, husband Roy E McQuiston, daughter Ellen Schneider, son Roy H. (Amber) McQuiston, daughter Sally (Richard)Brown, grandchildren: Timber (Bryce) Helle, Tiffany McQuiston, Hannah Afoa, Jonathan Brown, great grandchildren: Andrew, Ashton and Anderson Helle, and numerous nieces and nephews, her step daughter Bobbie Jo and son Cody Bleskey, step brothers/sisters and their families.

Lala/Momma, you will always hold a special place in our hearts and will never be forgotten. We can still hear your wit, humor and wisdom. Your presence has transformed our lives, and we eagerly await the day we can be together again.

A private celebration of life will be scheduled at a later time.
