Martin Clyde Cooksey, 91, of Dillon, Montana, passed away Friday, November 10, 2023, at home with his daughter Amy at his side. Marty was born December 26, 1931, to George and Alice (Teeter) Cooksey in Hill City, KS. He was one of five children. He graduated high school in 1949, and shortly after joined the Navy. During one of his leaves home he met Ellie Lynch in a little café, in Hutchison, KS. The couple were married on February 6th, 1957. The couple lived in Hill City, KS until 1963, after finding out that Ellie had a lung disease, that required the family to move to Montana. The family loaded up their car, pulling a trailer, and another trailer with the jeep (that had Amy's Siamese cat) in tow. Marty bought a barber shop in town, and Ellie worked at Dorthea's beauty shop. After about 6 months the couple found a house on the hill at the end of Sebree St. He retired from Montana Western. He enjoyed living the Montana life with his wife and spending time outdoors. He was a huge fan of the Grizzlies and attended and watched many of their games. Marty also loved cutting wood, riding ATVs, and fishing.

Marty is preceded in death by both his parents, all four siblings, and a grandson Justin.

He is survived by his son Jess of Butte, MT, and daughter Amy of Dillon, also a granddaughter Tonja, two great granddaughters, sister-in-law, Karen Cooksey of KS, and seven nieces and two nephews.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Beehive Hospice or the food bank in Marty's name.
