Mary Jo Wenger Waldemar, 86, passed away on the morning of March 21st, 2019 at her current home in Butte, Montana surrounded by loved ones. Mary Jo was born on July 10, 1932 to Ed and Ruth Wenger in Dillon, Montana. She and her younger sister, Nancy, spent their childhood in Darby and the Big Hole Valley. They had many fond memories with all of their Wenger cousins. Mary Jo went to high school in Dillon, staying with friends and in her words “living life to the hilt”. She graduated from Beaverhead County High School in 1950. She worked as a telephone operator before marrying Leonard Waldemar on May 25, 1951. Mary Jo also worked many years as a hot lunch lady. She kept herself plenty busy with her children, grandchildren, many friends and serious ceramic hobby. Mary Jo loved to go camping with her family and could always be counted on when anything was forgotten – including rock hard marshmallows, a blender and clothes of all sizes. She was a social butterfly with a great sense of humor. She was up for any adventure and had a love for reading, bling and sweets. Mary Jo is survived by her children Eddie (Lori), Brenda Borjas (David) and Jerry Rehse (Dennis); grandchildren Erik Waldemar, Harlan Borjas (Kimberly), Rudy Sevalstad (Carl) and Susanne Valach (Nick); and great grandchildren Cayden, Christopher, Dax, Ryland and Huxley, all of Dillon. Mary Jo is also survived by her sister Nancy Conley (Hank) of Hamilton, MT; sisters-in-law Fay McCracken of Florence, MT and June Kamps of Hamilton, MT as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. The family would like to thank Copper Ridge and The Springs of Butte for her wonderful care over the last year. She quickly made many friends in her new home. A graveside service will be held on May 18th at 11 AM at Mountain View Cemetery. Donations can be made to the charity of your choice.
