Michael Lee Gordon passed away November 9, 2022. He was born October 21, 1946 in Bismarck, North Dakota to Lloyd and Faye Gordon and was the oldest of 8 kids. Growing up, Mike lived in Regent, ND and Miles City, before the family settled in Dillon in 1957. The family would travel to Regent, ND ever summer to visit his grandma and grandpa Nelson at the family farm. Mike served as a Jet Engine Mechanic in the United States Air Force deploying to both Thailand and Vietnam. While serving our country, his sweetheart Karen (mom) would send him letters. Mike married Karen Graves on April 12, 1969 and spent 45 wonderful years together. He graduated from Western Montana College with a teaching degree and they moved to Kalispell. They moved back to Dillon a few years later and they owned and operated Gordon Trucking. After selling the business, he worked at Barretts Minerals until his retirement in 2008. In his retirement he enjoyed traveling and spending the summers in his camper, while enjoying being around his grandkids. You could always catch him at any of the grandkids’ sporting events or school functions. Mike loved going out in the evening and having a cold one while visiting with his friends. He was a member of Dillon Masonic Lodge No. 16, and took great pride in organizing the Lodge's Books for Kindle program for Beaverhead County students. Each year he looked forward to rewarding a student in each school in Beaverhead County with a Kindle for reaching their book reading goals. He was also a member of the Bagdad Shriners.
Dad had many hobbies through the years and lived life on his own terms. Many of his hobbies throughout the years were making bird houses, panning for gold, fixing up old cars, fishing, ice fishing
making breadboxes, going on 3 mile walks, biking, riding his Harley and 4wheeler, and various others.
Back in the 1990’s he decided to enter the Big Sky State Games for bike racing. To his surprise, he ended up winning a gold medal for his age division and celebrated as only Mike could, by lighting a cigarette and cracking open a beer at the finish line.
Mike was preceded in death by his wife Karen Gordon, parents Lloyd and Faye Gordon, and numerous
aunts and uncles. He is survived by his children Casey (Chip) Rule, Ryan (Courtney) Gordon and
granddaughter Emma, and Jennifer (Tyler) Tash and grandchildren Sage, Callie, Raelynn, and Lewis. He is also survived by his siblings Pat (Christy) Gordon, Les (Gayle) Gordon, Kent (Sue) Gordon, Jon (Barb) Gordon, Nikki (Rob) Westlund, Penny (Jim) Alworth, Kari (Cary) Williams, good friend Isreal Cruz, brother in law Lee Graves, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 11:00 on December 3rd at Brundage Funeral Home with a local reception to be announced. Memorials may be made in his honor to the Dillon Lodge No. 16 Kindle Program, the
Bagdad Shrine to benefit the Shriner’s Children’s Hospital, or an organization of the donor’s choice.
