Phyllis Burwell

Phyllis Davis Burwell died March 20, 2017 at the age of 91. She was the second of twin girls born to William and Rhoda Stutsman Davis on a farm on the East Bench in Dillon on April 25, 1925. She attended Dillon schools and graduated from Beaverhead County High School in 1943. After graduation, she worked at the Beaverhead County Clerk and Recorders Office. She and John Burwell were married August 11, 1946 at St. James Episcopal Church in Dillon. They had three children, Connie, Pete, and Jeanne. Phyllis returned to work at the Clerk and Recorders Office in the 1960's and retired in 1986. After retirement she worked at the Maverick Mountain cafeteria for ten years. She had been a volunteer at the Community Food Pantry since 2000. She was preceded in death by her husband, John in 2011, brother Ralph Davis, sisters Mae Paddock, Margaret Naylor, Betty Shafer, Erma Pace, twin sister Evelyn Barrett, and granddaughter Julie Bennetts. She is survived by daughter Jeanne Bennetts, daughter and son-in-law Connie and Jerry Delaney, son and daughter-in-law Pete and Cathy Burwell and grandchildren Jackie Delaney, Jamie Ferris, Brian Bennetts, John Bennetts, Lacey Brelje, and Jessica Burwell. She is also survived by sister-in-law Jeanne Harrison, Betty Miller, and Pat Burwell. Services will be held Saturday, March 25, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Brundage Funeral Home in Dillon, Montana. Memorials may be made the Community Food Pantry or the charity of choice.
