Retha Louise Jones Sigman was born September 6, 1929, to Robert Leslie and Louise Jones in Butte, MT. With family by her side, Retha passed away peacefully on July 31, 2024. She was the oldest of 3 children. Retha grew up in Wise River working on the family ranch, Rafter Ranch. In 1948, she graduated from Beaverhead County High School. Retha attended Rocky Mountain College and received a 2-year teaching degree. She taught in Melrose for a couple years.

Retha married Loren Sigman on June 22, 1952. They had one son, Russell. Retha worked for the Dillon Hot Lunch program and Stephens Greenhouse and Floral. She always had a beautiful flower garden. Retha made beautiful arrangements with the most attractive bows.

Retha was a devoted member of the Presbyterian Church. Church was an important part of her life; remaining active until her death. She was a lifetime member of Eastern Star becoming Worthy Matron and past Queen of the Daughters of the Nile Tirzah Temple #3. Retha enjoyed the women’s bowling league team and received several bowling trophies. She was a volunteer at Barrett Memorial Hospital for numerous years. Retha enjoyed the outdoors, be it camping or sitting outside reading.

Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, Loren, her brother, Donald, her sister Lynn, her brother and sister in-laws, Claude and Mildred Sigman, Dorothy and Pete Uggetti, Pete Patacini, Ed Hepola, nephews Karl Jones and Dan Uggetti.

Retha is survived by her son Russ (Wanda), grandchildren Travis (Amy) and Melanie, great grandchildren Cody, TJ and Matthew, sister-in-laws, Liz Jones and Darlene Hepola, brother-in- law John Mugaas, numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at the First Presbyterian Church on August 19, 2024, at 11:00 am. Burial will be at the Dewey Cemetery at 3:30 pm. Memorials may be made to the Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund, 24 South Pacific Street, Dillon, MT 59725 or to the donor’s choice.
