Robert McNeill

Robert I McNeill, "Bob" was born May 25, 1930 in Pueblo, Colorado and died on September 21, 2014 at Barrett Hospital in Dillon, Montana. Bob was raised in Pueblo, Colorado and completed HS at Centennial Class of 1948. He completed one year of college in Pueblo, Co in forestry. Bob grew up hunting and fishing with his Dad.  Bob's early accomplishments included: 1946 - Colorado Skeet Champion (small gauge and 12 gauge) both adults and Junior 1947-Jr State Colorado - Trap shooting Champion 1948 - Jr State Colorado Trap shooting Champion Bob was activated in 1950 into the Army and completed a tour in Korea 1951-52.   Bob married Doris Peterson in 1952 and they had 2 wonderful children; Chris McNeill 11/20/54 and Kim (May) 1/30/57) Doris died in 1968 in Steamboat Springs, Colorado Bob and his family were always involved in skiing and outdoors activities. Bob was a past Ski School director for the Steamboat Springs Winter sports Club and also a  National Ski Patrol Judge. Bob's work experience included working as an electrician  and a lineman  for Mountain Bell. Bob moved to Dillon, Montana in 1972 and bought Elkhorn Hot Springs which he ran for 6 years. He married Pat (Rice) in 1972 in Cleveland, Ohio. Bob and his son Chris started Diamond Hitch Outfitters and ran a guiding service for 38 years. They guided fishermen, hikers, hunters into the Pioneer Mountains.  Bob loved raising mules, horses and golden retrievers.  He often had white mule pack strings in the Labor Day parade. Bob is survived by his wife Pat of 42 years and his daughter in law (Lenny McNeill) and granddaughter Dori McNeill and his daughter Kim and Randy May and granddaughter Jessica of Dillon, Colorado. A celebration of Bob's life will be held Saturday September 27, 2014 at 11AM at the Vineyard church.
