Ruby Montie

Ruby Montie received her wings from God on November 15th and began her journey to heaven. She arrived in this world on March 25, 1941 in Pitkin, Allen Parish, Louisiana, to birth parents Alcie and Emma Perkins. She and younger brothers Winford and Billy Ray were adopted and raised by Eng and Sadie Lee Brannan in High Island, Texas. Her mother later brought brothers Joseph and George into this world unknown to Ruby until recently when they were united through ancestry research. Her journey in life led her from Texas to California and finally to Dillon, Montana. Along the way she brought into this world four wonderful children, Joseph (Jay) Walker, Karen Walker, Dawn Lindsey and Clayton “Clay” Lindsey. Ruby and Skip discovered each other in Oxnard, California and began married life in Ventura, California. This added “steps” Eric and Gina to her roster of children. They later moved to Fresno and lastly to Dillon, Montana. Along the way in life Ruby enjoyed employment in the medical field mostly, then in Fresno got a Real Estate license and was a property manager. She also was a Mary Kay beauty consultant where she advanced to becoming a director. She came to Dillon to retire but within a month became a church secretary where she was introduced to beading. She loved it so much that she opened the Rockin’ R Mercantile store and operated it until 2014. She then settled down to part time working at the Sundowner Motel which like all of her other jobs, she loved. Simply, she loved people so much that anything she did she loved. She always was open to new things so included quilting, scrapbooking and diamond painting to her many loves. Ruby will be very fondly remembered by 15 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Memorial service will be at 1:00 Thursday at the Vineyard Church.
