Steve Jennings 1948-2018 Steven Wayne Jennings died peacefully at home on March 1, 2018. Born June 27, 1948 in Missoula where his parents Les and Elaine Jennings attended college after both served in the military during WWII. Steve spent all but 2 years of his childhood in Montana in Butte and Bozeman where he graduated High School in 1966. After a short time in college at MSU he chose to enlist in the Army in 1967 and proudly served his country over seas until 1970. Following his discharge, he again enrolled at MSU where he met Shirley Holm in 1971, the two married and made their home in Billings where Steve began his career working for Mountain Bell Telephone Company. From this union two children were born. The family transferred to Dillon where Steve continued working for the phone company. The couple later divorced. In 1984 Steve met Sandy Rhea and they married in 1987 and began to blend their families. Steve was an officer for 10 years in the Elks Lodge #1554. Was president of the Beaverhead Outdoor Association and an active member of the Citizens for Balanced Use and active in State Politics. After retirement of 30 years as the “Phone Guy” he joined local volunteers and they built houses for Habitat for Humanity. Steve was a “Jack of all Trades” and a master of many, always willing to help family, friends and community with his talents. He was an avid outdoorsman and he and Sandy traveled with their RV all across the USA enjoying it’s beauty and history. Steve was preceded in death by his parents; Elaine and Dr. Les Jennings. He is survived by sister Leslie Womack of Billings, children Jamie (Brett) Meidinger, Billings, Mike (Melissa) Jennings, Bridger. Wife Sandy and extended family Tammra Todd (Brian), Bob Rhea, Dave Rhea, Britani (Blake) Hill, 5 grandchildren and 3 greatgrandchildren. Cremation has taken place, no services at his request. Memorials may be made to Barrett Home Health/Hospice, veterans or charity of donor’s choice.
