Thelma (Tibbitts) Kelly

THELMA SUZANNE (TIBBITTS) KELLY passed away at Discovery Care Center in Hamilton, Montana on March 15, 2014.  She was born in Rocky Ford, SD (near Porcupine, SD) on May 25, 1916 to Thomas and Florence Tibbitts.  Thelma attended St Francis Holy Rosary Mission; Pine Ridge, SD.  She was married to Thomas Kelly.  Thelma & Tom lived in several locations in their life here on earth. Nebraska, South Dakota, Washington, & Montana. She was the wife of our Rancher Father, Tom Kelly, who together raised 4 children while wearing several hats of trade. She took in ironing, delivered milk & cream from their own stock, delivered mail with children in tow, a housekeeper. She was a waitress in several cafes. She really was a social person who loved taking care of & serving others. She could visit with you all day long! After retiring from the work force, she enjoyed the company of her friends that gathered several times a week at the local coffee shops in Dillon, MT. I believe her last social was at the age of 96 years old, yes, she drove herself to the Coffee Shops at that age as well as to the grocery store. She frequented the Dillon Sale Barn with Dad and quite a few times after Dad was gone. She lived in her home until 11/4/12. She was 96 years old at that time. Mom loved her family. She always had the beds ready for their visit and enough food prepared to feed an army. That's just how she did things. She loved to sew & cook. Oh, how we all miss the homemade bread and cinnamon rolls. Many family & friends have some item she has made with her hands. Quilts, afghans, pillowcases she embroidered"¦.and other things too numerous to mention. She is preceded in death by; husband, Thomas Kelly (deceased) 6/4/1937, Baby Boy Kelly (deceased); buried in Pierre, SD, sister; Delores Emery and a grandson.  She is survived by her children; William (LaVonne) Kelly; Ft. Pierre, SD, Tresa (Randy) Shannon; Thorp, WA, Kenneth Kelly; Sheridan, WY, Kathy (Ray) Tipton; Victor, MT, siblings; Vesta Soderlin; Martin, SD, Devona Marshall; Mission, SD, Thomas Tibbitts (Sonny) Allen, SD, Phyllis Fravel; Mission Ridge, SD, Francis Bradford; New Castle, WY, grandchildren; Rhonda (Mike) Knapp, Darrell Shannon, Robert (Jessie) Shannon, Brenda (Jeff) Hansberry, Rick (Leslie) Shannon, Jamie Tipton, Shawn (Danni & Walker) Tipton, Caleb Tipton, Casey Tipton, Billy G (Jenny) Kelly, Karmen (Jim) Meyer, Tommy (Carrie) Kelly, TJ Kelly. Thanks to ALL of the Friends, Dr. Ron Loge, the Nurses, Meals on Wheels & to Brundage Funeral Home in Dillon MT for taking very good care of Mom, for us. Also, to the Discovery Care Centre and the Nursing Home Staff in Hamilton, MT Mom was a member of the St Rose of Lima Parish, Catholic Church in Dillon, MT.  There will be a graveside service at Mountain View Cemetery on Friday, March 21st at 11 AM with a Memorial Mass Celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church at 12:10 PM.  R.I.P. Mom, all is well with your soul, as you are reunited with Dad.
