Theresa Sorenson passed away at Barrett Hospital on August 30, 2018. At ninety-nine years old she maintained her feisty personality, unbelievable memory and kept everyone on their toes to the very end. Theresa was born on a ranch in Grant Montana on April 24, 1919 the second of three children. Her parents were Claude Duval Smith and Anna Maude Snell. She also had three half-siblings parented by Earl Ripley Smith and Maude Snell. She attended Riverside School and Beaverhead High School and the family lived on a ranch south of Dillon. In 1936 she married Clarence (Stub) Sorenson in Dillon Montana. Stub served in the Army during WWII and Theresa moved with him to Fort Bliss, Texas. After WWII they moved back to Dillon. In 1949 their son Alan Sorenson was born and he lived with them for the rest of his life. Through the years Theresa worked for the Dillon Tribune, Watson Motors, Western Union, Western Montana College and the Beaverhead County Clerk & Recorder’s Office, which she retired from in 1975. She was also a life long member of the Rebecca Lodge. She was preceded in death by her parents Claude and Maude Smith, her husband Stub, and son Alan Sorenson, brothers Cecil, Earl and Herb Smith and sisters Mildred Opal and Emma Rosella Smith. She is survived by her nephew Jerry (Sandy) Spehar and numerous other nieces and nephews. Theresa was very thankful for the medical staff at Barrett Clinic and Hospital. She wanted a special thanks to her doctors, especially Dr. Loge, Dr. Lifson and Dr. Murray and to the Hospice Staff, especially Marie and Gina. She also wanted to thank her special friends and caregivers, Diane and Carl Staley. She hoped to make you all smile at her upbeat attitude, daily joke and zest for living a long life. Theresa requested that she not have a memorial service and anyone wanting to honor her life do so with a gift to the Beaverhead Senior Citizens Center in her name.
